If you find that the Google Document or Google File you are trying to share, isn't working, it might be because of where the file is located on Google Drive.
In the above example, the Share button is greyed out and the user cannot share the document. Looking towards the document title, there is a computer icon. That icon indicates the document is on a Shared Drive. Shared Drives are very useful for organizations, but there is an option to turn off editing and sharing.
In this example, the user does not have the proper permissions to share because of the Shared Drive Settings.
